Interests and Services
As of May 2025, I am no longer an advisor for Larimer SBDC or Loveland Business Development Center. They've been a wonderful organization to work for the past seven years, and I recommend them to all Larimer County-based business owners.

About Franklin Taggart:
I'm too old to care about branding, being an influencer, or how many followers I have. I have several decades of experience to draw from in a variety of interests. It's been difficult to define a niche of any kind, but I like helping people, and I have a bunch of possible ways I can do that. Some people consider me a coach. I'm a consultant to others. A teacher to some more. A mentor to a few. I get paid for these things, so I'll still call it a career. I'd like to share some of my interests with you and the related services for each.
Interest - Impacting the World Through Creativity
My longest career has been in music performance and production. My favorite way to spend time is taking a creative idea and making it into something. If it seems to be potentially valuable to others, I'll either give it away or sell it. I've written songs, produced albums, taught guitar lessons, played concerts, made posters, booked gigs, designed logos, written articles, made podcasts, recorded videos, made workbooks, and followed a bunch of muses into unexpected and delightful corners.
Related Services - Creativity Coaching, Career Path Development, and Creative Business Mentoring
It's funny how life works. If you do something long enough, other people start asking for advice on how to do that thing. I became a coach by accident. People started asking me to help them figure out their creative processes, career paths, and business practices. It turned out that I knew enough to be helpful. Since 2009, I've worked with over 600 people in every kind of creative pursuit - writing, editing, filmmaking, theatre, art, design, videography, photography, music, and one nearly famous dancer. I bring structure and sanity to the process of finding ways to follow dreams.
Interest - Small Business Development and Marketing
I've started more than twenty businesses since I was in college. That was a long time ago. I have a dust-covered college degree that was split between music and business, but it prepared me to be a salesman for IBM, not a reckless-living touring musician. My real education in business and marketing has been in the school of life, learning from experience and loads of failure. In the process, I've learned some extremely valuable ways for small businesses to get off the ground successfully. I especially enjoy learning and practicing marketing. Marketing appeals to me because, at its core, it's all about building relationships.
Related Services - Business and Marketing Consulting for Solopreneurs and Freelancers
I'm especially excited to help first-time business owners at the very beginning of their startup journey. This is another area in which I've served hundreds of clients, many of them in creative businesses like freelance design, production, and fine art. Another group of people I've helped in this area are other professional service providers like coaches, consultants, therapists, teachers, and alternative health practitioners. I especially like working with business owners who struggle with marketing.
Interest - Practical Technology for Creativity, Business, and Fun
I took my first computer class in 1979 and have been looking at screens pretty much ever since then. I'm not a talented programmer or developer. Those smarts have never lived in this building. But I've always been an enthusiast for the things technology allows us to accomplish, especially the tools that make it possible to make masterpieces wherever we are. I still marvel that my laptop contains a thousand times more capability than the first recording and video studios I worked in last century. I enjoy learning how programs work, how to use the bells and whistles, and how we can get the most out of them. I also love to help other people in this learning. And AI is just making it more interesting - and overwhelming.
Related Services - Finding the Right Tech for You and Teaching You How to Use It
Many of my coaching and consulting clients have had an aversion to computers and anything techy. Software developers don't think the way normal people do, and that often makes learning how to use tech tools a daunting and confusing process. I enjoy helping clients find the right tools for their situation and level of skill, and then teaching them how to use it. I've helped people use programs like Customer Relationship Management software(CRM), book writing with Scrivener, presentation design with PowerPoint and Prezi, audio and video production with Ableton and Camtasia, and scads of others. I want to take the burden of finding and learning the tech off your plate.
Interest - "Content" Creation and Marketing
I don't like the word content. Using such a word to describe creative work devalues the soulful labor of millions of gifted people around the world. It robs an exquisite process of its wonder, and it replaces it with a term that lumps it all together with generic mediocrity. That said, I've made a lot of online content. I started blogging with my first website back in 2001, ultimately starting seventeen more. Since 2010, I've released over 600 podcast episodes. And I've started three YouTube channels with various interests. In 2023, I used AI to write a pretty horrible book that you can still find with a diligent Amazon search. I've also made almost thirty online courses since 2007. I'm working on more of all of these things as I write this.
Related Services - Building and Optimizing Online Communication Channels, and Filling Them With Great Resources
I enjoy the process of strategically designing and building the online places where you'll attract, reach, and serve the audiences and clientele who are actively looking for you. I've helped people design and build websites, podcasts, YouTube channels, blogs, newsletters, crowdfunding projects, Patreon profiles, Pinterest boards, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Thinkific, Udemy, Teachable, Payhip, and dozens more places where they establish important connections and deliver valuable experiences. I also help them plan and produce the content they'll use to serve the people who find them. I use a simple customer journey model to identify the right places for your visibility and participation, and then build the channels and the resources to get the job done.

- My son has introduced me to a genre of music I never expected to like. We went on a cruise last year with the band lamb of god, and I was deeply touched by heavy metal.
- I like to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I like to pull it all together using whatever I can find in the fridge. Most of the time, it's pretty good. My favorite things to cook are breakfast skillets, grilled sandwiches, and gumbo. I married a chef, and she likes most of the things I make.
- I enjoy British entertainment more than American, and would like to spend a year in England and Ireland.
- I retired from music performance, but my final retirement will take place by force. I like what I do.

My happy place. Behind a microphone. |
“As a coach and advisor, Franklin Taggart is as wise as he is supportive. He has a unique ability to see the various sides to any business or career option and to help you discern from discussion which of those directions might be best to pursue. He never dictates your course of action, rather he listens carefully to what motivates you and digs deep to uncover your personal strengths and then offers suggestions for how you might meet your goals based on what he hears. It’s all quite encouraging and empowering. As a solopreneur, most decisions and strategies fall squarely on my shoulders, as does most of the work. It’s been a huge benefit to work with someone who can help steer me in the right direction by offering astute observations and creative solutions to keep me focused on doing my best and most efficient work.”

Watching people come up to our business and checking our class calendar with the QR code is so great! Before this, we had to direct them to type in the website address on their phone and then find the class calendar link. Scanning the code and getting directly to the classes makes people smile every time!"
