The Gifts of a Daily Practice

We're getting ready to celebrate my friend, Lynn Kincanon who has been named Loveland Poet Laureate for 2022-2024. Lynn is an amazing poet and this award is well deserved.

One of the things I admire about Lynn is her commitment to practicing her poetry craft daily. And to take it a step further, she posts these daily poems on her Facebook page for all the world to see. It's one of the few things that make Facebook worth the time.

One of the things I love about reading her daily poems is that we get to see her process of development. Her abilities are gaining both subtlety and strength as she stays true to her practice.

There is something to be said for writing no matter what, or playing, or throwing, or making videos... When we practice something every day, we have a chance to become more proficient, and sometimes the activity itself can become a transcendent experience, where we lose the sense of who we are as the creating just happens.

You can follow Loveland Poet Laureate on Facebook to learn more: https://www.facebook.com/lovelandpoetlaureate

The other person I mention in the video is another friend, David Schmaltz.

David is also a person who writes and posts every day on his blog, which you can find here: http://www.pureschmaltz.com/ (I gave the wrong link in the video)
